Notes:
In "Behind the screens," take notes on the concepts of "product placement," "merchandising" and "tie-ins" -- and on "hypercommercialism." which was also in "Money for Nothing" -- "hypercommercialism of culture"). Note McChesney's and Miller's assertions about the consequences for quality films under the current corporate system.

No summary of "Mickey Mouse monopoly" will be posted. Note assertions about Disney stereotypically represents gender -- and people of different ethnicities and people of color. Also, note criticisms of misrepresenting history for corporate profit.

Please remember Exam 1 on Thurs., Oct. 22. It is over everything, (including Week 4) -- reading, videos and lectures.
HOWEVER, on Monday, Pilgrim EXCLUDES some additional material -- see the LIST OF EXCLUSIONS under Announcements at the top of the main J190 page.

Pilgrim will make Exam 1 available to students prior to 9 a.m. -- at 8:40 a.m. since there is no class in the lecture hall at 8 a.m.

Pilgrim will review during part of class Wed., Oct. 21.

Also -- remember that if the university were to close because of snow on exam day (check here that day too), the exam would be on Monday.
