Pilgrim's 140-point essay project due the day before Thanksgiving

Monday or Tuesday after for no penalty if a student wishes to arrange such
a later deadline with Pilgrim)
10-point extra-credit opportunity for J190
Students may earn 10 extra points for Introduction to Mass Media
by completing the following:
Alternative media -- Pilgrim's democracy resource
list
Students may substitute up to two other sites not on Pilgrim's list, but
they must be non-mainstream media. At least 10 of the 12 must be from
Pilgrim's list.
2) Then type a half-page, single-spaced argument about which THREE are the
"most useful to self-governing in American" (and why). After the analysis
the 12 sites explored should be listed (for example,
http://www.adbusters.org) -- do the entire assignment on one side of a piece
of paper, please.
3) The paper, with student's name -- last name first, then first
name --
in the upper left corner, must be brought to Pilgrim by the beginning of
Week 8,
Mon., Nov. 16, 2009, at 9 a.m.
Students should read Chapter 15 of "Media/Impact" to get a full understanding of
Pilgrim's lecture on press-government conflicts.
