Journalism 190 sample Quiz 1 questions

The first quiz (Thursday of Week 4) will be worth a total of 235 points and will be over all material through and including Week 4. Included will be library reading, videos, lectures and text material.

Pilgrim urges students to read all text material thoroughly once (and, being guided by material on the J190 Web page, take notes).

For quiz study, students should focus on their notes and the material posted on the Web. For video and text-reading summaries on the Web, students should focus on material emphasized in lectures. He regularly details which material is important for each quiz. Students who attend and take good notes, thus, are directed to study the proper material for each quiz.

By Monday of Week 4, Pilgrim will give a list of some additional material to be excluded from the quiz.

The following are samples from a previous quarter. J190 MATERIAL CHANGES EACH QUARTER, SO SOME MATERIAL BELOW MAY NOT BE PART OF THE CURRENT QUARTER'S CONTENT.

Each quiz this quarter will have 25 matching in a style similar to those below -- concepts, terms and lists to be matched in some way.

THE FALL 2012 QUIZ WILL HAVE TWO SETS OF MATCHING TOTALING 25 ANSWERS -- at 7 points each.

The Fall 2012 Quiz 1 matching will have ONE UNUSED ANSWER IN EACH SECTION after all the blanks have been filled.

Side 1 of the quiz will have ONE short-essay question, with part of it being a multiple choice (see example below show how the question might be worded).

No key to these samples will be posted.

Pilgrim urges students to use this tool as BEGINNING for their study. The samples on this page do NOT COVER ALL this quarter's material presented in lecture, readings, videos or the texts.

Some students find study groups and a system of flashcards helpful.
